Topic: dd to spidev crashes system

Hello everybody,

I started out having a look at the fpga on the board.

Today I wanted to bitbang a new project, but the dd to /dev/spidev2.0 alone results in the system going down hard, every time. Even the bit files previously working now refuse to do anything but crash the system.

Oddly enough the only bitstream that is still working is the one from the novena-gpbb example:

Does anyone have any idea whats going on here. I'm grateful for any help!

Nope, that didn't do anything ... Well it's still crashing, if that's considered a feature wink

There's another strange thing, using the novena-gpbb-example I can read the FPGA-Version (whatever that is) from 0x08041FFC and 0x08041FFE.
Before bitbanging the gpbb-example I read something useful, after using dd to flash the .bit file I get FFFFF.FFFFF which is something that shouldn't happen!? Or am I mistaken??

Well my bad. As written here http://www.kosagi.com/w/index.php?title … mming_File prior to bit file generation the "Unused IOB Pins" setting has to be changed. Apparently the default is deadly when using the novena hmm
