Topic: Buying a new battery for my Novena?

Congrats on the 5 year anniversary!

My Novena still works too, but the battery is gone, and I would like to buy a new one.
Unfortunately, it says "International shipping not available for this item" (probably because of regulations).
And I live in Norway.

Is there an option for buying a battery on this side of the big pond?

The one they originally used was this:

Re: Buying a new battery for my Novena?

ok, the original battery was out of stock, and the suggested replacement too.
This one might work?

Physically a bit smaller, and the connector is different but other than that it looks compatible to my untrained eye.
Any reasons why it would not work?

Re: Buying a new battery for my Novena?

Novena board schematics say the power connector is compatible with 2-cell Li-on, 3 cell Li-on (preferred), 4 cell Li-on (preferred), 6-cell lead acid, 6 to 12 cell NiMH.

Ok, do I need to worry about the discharge (C) rating? Or is "same or higher" good enough?
(batteries on HobbyKing sure do get out of stock quickly)

I asked MadHacker in the #kosagi IRC on OFTC about the discharge rating for you and got this:
19:07 <MadHacker> Jookia: Same or higher is fine.
19:11 <MadHacker> There's no way the laptop is going to pull anything like the discharge current rating of these drone batteries.
19:11 <MadHacker> Some of them are rated to hundreds of amps.
19:11 <MadHacker> The pack he's suggested is a 30C one 3000mAh one, which means 90 amps in context. smile
19:12 <MadHacker> Unless he's got a kilowatt novena, that's plenty. big_smile

That is useful. Thanks!
