I've installed the packages from Xobs' NAS and in spite of seeing the armada driver load in my Xorg.0.log, rendering is now significantly /slower/
Where should I be looking?
That's the correct place.
Without a kernel with etnadrm enabled you won't get accelerated video. And up to now, all kernels have had one thing or another wrong with them. I'm putting the finishing touches on a 3.19 that has accelerated 2D video support and is more stable.
I tried to enable acceleration/OMTC in iceweasel and got:
(process:1845): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed
libGL error: MESA-LOADER: malformed or no PCI ID
libGL error: unable to load driver: etnaviv_dri.so
libGL error: driver pointer missing
libGL error: failed to load driver: etnaviv
